Term 1 Update

In Year Four we strive to be a welcoming Christian community respecting the dignity, cultural diversity and uniqueness of each student. We believe that all children are capable of learning and our role as educators is to stimulate and nurture this learning, through an engaging, supportive and fun learning environment that instils a life-long love of learning within students.

This year we’re implementing a new program across the school called Talk for Writing. So what is Talk for Writing?

“The Talk for Writing approach enables children to read and write independently for a variety of audiences and purposes within different subjects. A key feature is that children internalise the language structures needed to write through ‘talking the text’, as well as close reading. The approach moves from dependence towards independence, with the teacher using shared and guided teaching to develop the ability in children to write creatively and powerfully.” (Pie Corbett and Julia Strong)
