In Science at St Anne’s we focus on exploring the world and beyond through hands on activities and experiments that encourage independent critical thinking. We incorporate the use of digital technologies to enhance our learning. Students pose questions to inform a scientific investigation, and predict what the findings of an investigation might be.
During Term One we have focussed on:
Earth And Space Sciences
In Year One we have been leaning about patterns of events that occur on Earth and in the sky, such as the appearance of the moon and stars at night, the weather and the season.
In Year Two we have been identifying the Earth’s resources and how they are used in a variety of ways.
In Year Three we have learning about the Earth’s rotation on its axis and how it causes regular changes, including night and day.
In Year Four we have learning about how Earth’s surface changes over time as a result of natural processes such as weathering and erosion
In Year Five we have been identifying the planets of the solar system and comparing how long they take to orbit the sun.
In Year Six we have been learning about how sudden geological changes such as tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes can affect Earth’s surface.
